Our GSP students have been playing with their creativity in the Google Doodle challenge! Students have created unique Google Doodles; answering the question
If you could invent one thing to make the world a better place, what would it be?
We are in the VERY beginning stages of investigating some of our ideas and have been learning quite a bit! Check out some of our designs!

It's all Greek to Me!
Today we had a wonderful experience with Mrs. Francik who came to share some of the history, culture, language and food of Greece! Students were overcome with questions and filled with enthusiasm! They were able to write their names in Greek, sample a unique sweet treat and take home a drachma. Thank you Mrs. Francik for taking the time to share with us!

Too long...So much to say!
It's been way too long since the last posting! So much has occurred in our Freedom 7 gifted student program world! Some highlights include students running in the Bayfront 5K9 in support of the Brevard County Shelters. Team Canine Commando placed 2nd!
Use of the iPads continues to be a terrific way for children to create, explore and learn! Students have created books describing unique civilizations after reading The Girl Who Owned a City by O.T. Nelson and Weslandia by Paul Fleishman using Scribble Press. Others have created book trailers using iMovie.
In Sixth grade, students have been learning about clubs and organizations. After researching using a thinglink, students created charters and wrote by-laws for different clubs. The volleyball and basketball group of four sixth grade students have created Educreation presentations, sharing plans to work with younger students in basketball and volleyball skills.
Many students are now participating in our Freedom 7 Coding Club! We are using terrific online resources such code.org and codeacademy.com to assist our learning. We also are fortunate to have a terrific and knowledgeable parent volunteer and student assistants teaching our students.
Finally, our FPS district competition is right around the corner! We will have over 40 students competing in the Global Issues Problem Solving component. This year's topic is surveillance society. (So timely!)
I will work harder to not neglect the sharing of all of the WONDERFUL learning and successes that occur in this classroom!
